CyberTheraphy
is not a substitute for individuals who require professional
counsel to ensure their well being and stability.
CyberTherapy
can be an adjunct to psychotherapy and/or group support and
can augment your self help efforts, but it cannot replace
direct human contact with other human beings - the cornerstone
of healing from abandonment. Healing comes through deepening
your connection to others and making new significant connections
that are emotionally enhancing. Survivors are encouraged to
become actively engaged in psychotherapy, self-help groups,
or others supportive programs. In the author's words...
"As
a psychotherapist, I need face to face contact to be able
to respond to the subtleties of human emotions expressed through
body language and nuance. It is the connection with feelings
that allows me to get underneath my client's needs, strengths
and goals to be able to support significant growth. Feelings
can be easily masked in e-mail responses and telephone calls,
greatly limiting the process."
